As Liberia emerges from its recent civil conflict, it faces an uphill struggle to bring education, infrastructure, health care, reliable legal protection, and effective governance to its population of slightly more than 4 million inhabitants. The Liberian Civil Wars decimated all sectors of its society leaving it one of the poorest countries in the world. Like many poor countries, the youth of Liberia constitute the largest and most rapidly growing sector of the population, and in its youth lies both the potential for further civil strife as well as a brighter future for its people.
