We're
excited to be able to start sharing stories of the lives
you are touching through your support and prayers for
Rebuild Africa. In this issue we want to
introduce you
to Kpambu Lusu - a Fassavolu villager
with a story, typical of post-conflict Africa. We also
want to alert you to
the upcoming Walk For Economic Empowerment in
September. | |
Fassavolu's
rainy season is now underway. This is the most miserable
time of the year for those without proper shelter. Not
only is there a food shortage, but the wet conditions
make sickness a constant
threat.
Kpambu
Lusu
is a villager at Fassavolu that you have been helping.
Kpambu (pictured with her daughter) lost her
husband in the war. She is the sole breadwinner for her
family, which lives in a hut that is not
waterproof.
Kpambu
says, "My kids and I
are always down with malaria and pneumonia due to the
terrible condition of our hut. My greatest prayer to God
is to get a
shelter."
Kpambu
says she is very thankful to God for the Rebuild Africa
reconstruction project in Fassavolu. Her gratitude has
been demonstrated by her commitment to contributing
toward labor costs to the housing construction, and
since Rebuild Africa helped the villagers start the
project last year, she has always availed herself to
work every time the women are called
upon.

Walk
For Africa Sept. 25th
Have
fun while making a real
difference!
Rebuild
Africa really needs to increase our financial base
soon,
if we are to continue helping villages like Fassavolu,
and villagers like Kpambu
Lusu.
We
are very grateful for all your support and prayers, but
we'd love to strongly encourage you to join with us in
the Walk For Economic Empowerment, taking place in the
Boston area on September 25th,
2010.
How
can I join in?
You can become a sponsored walker for Rebuild Africa,
sponsor a Rebuild Africa walker, or simply recruit your
friends to join with you in donating to the cause.
Rebuild Africa is joining with Peer Servants, World
Relief and Hope International for this event, but all
monies raised by Rebuild Africa will go 100% to Rebuild
Africa's work in Liberia.
Current
walk sites are Boston area (Wakefield, MA), Baltimore,
and possibly Tulsa, OK. If you'd like to set up your own
area walk, please email jonathan@rebuildafrica.org
with the subject header -
'walksite'. | |
Don't
forget that most banks also offer automatic monthly
electronic payment options, which may be easier for you.
With this option, the bank will automatically
write and send a check to Rebuild Africa on the date and
for the amount of your
choosing.
Please
do not hesitate to get in touch with any further
questions.
As
ever, we'd love to send an email introducing the work of
Rebuild Africa to friends and contacts who may be
interested to know more.
